Compliments?

Went to a baby shower for a work colleague yesterday.  Why do people think that the highest compliment for a knitted gift is "You made that? It looks like you bought it in a store!"  No it doesn't look like a store baby hat.  It's my own choice of colours, my own design, better quality yarn, and better made than a store hat.  I put time and effort into that hat, I didn't just blithely fork out money for it.  You can't buy a hat like that anywhere.  Bah!  Can I get some cheese with my whine?  Colleague said she'd take the hat to the hospital with her, which was nice.

Started the decreases for Faina last night!  50 rows to get done in 20 days, but each row is shorter than the last.  I could sing!  Watched the last two episodes of a four part Doctor Who story while I was knitting, Remembrance of the Daleks.  Seventh Doctor is my favourite, all devious scheming and cryptic comments.  I remember watching this story week by week when it came out.  Lace knitting and Daleks go well together.  Can't wait to watch the BBC Doctor Who Christmas special in England!  DVDs of the new series (with Christopher Eccleston as Ninth Doctor) come out in the US in February, hopefully in time for Hubby's birthday.

Seventh Doctor to Davros:

"Crush the lesser races, conquer the galaxy, unimaginable power, unlimited rice pudding, et cetera, et cetera!"

Doctor Who, Remembrance of the Daleks, first broadcast in 1988.

Had an idea for my next novel, a comedy.  Must edit the other two first! Maybe I can do that on the plane.
