Inputs

Reading some of the backlogged books in progress, standouts are:

  • "The Mindful Way Through Depression: Freeing Yourself from Chronic Unhappiness," by Zindel V. Segal, John Teasdale, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Mark Williams,
  • "Decisive: How to Make Better Choices in Life and Work," by Chip Heath, Dan Heath
  • (re-reads) "Sparrow Hill Road" (Ghost Roads #1) and "The Girl in the Green Silk Dress" (Ghost Roads #2) by Seanan McGuire

Some fiction books and series I go back to as comfort reads, the Ghost Roads is one with lots of mythology reinterpreted for the world of road ghosts. I never read the final part, Angel of the Overpass, and that is on its way to me now.

Thinking about

My master’s degree in data science, and apart from two horrendously designed and taught classes, it’s been fun and interesting.

I start teaching for $(PrivateUniversity) as an adjunct faculty late August, and I am pondering writing a class for them for software quality/testing as part of their cybersecurity program.

Grateful

We got a kitten! Hunter Yoda is a silver Savannah SBT cat with black spots, he is a bundle of energy with a purr you can hear across the room. He wants to sit on my shoulders or snuggle on my front as I sit. He runs full tilt through the house. Marie Cat is getting used to him, she smacks him when he annoys her, which is frequently, and he adores her.

Craft and Creating

Knitting progress
Working on a cardigan in Mesta Meadows Rambouillet DK yarn, I visited their farm in March and I took the cardigan with me to England on a trip to see my parents in June. That cardigan is the Seven Tees pattern, I have another in progress from the Deren Cardigan that stalled at the complicated shoulder part.

Sewing progress
Repairing a shopping tote made from a bag that held rabbit pellets, the fabric is a printed plastic weave and one handle came loose after three plus years of farmer’s market use.

Took a pile of fat quarters and made reusable dinner napkins. Super simple to make, washable, bright and colorful prints. Trying to get ahead of Christmas, because people love handmade gifts.

Planning a zipper bag with a squared base made of ultra-suede, sides of purple-flower print linen and a green cotton lining.
